I began triathlons 8 years ago. I had been a runner, added biking to help me stay in shape and then came up with the idea of doing a triathlon. Having never learned to swim, I began a grueling process of taking lessons in January of '04. I hated swimming and it took 6 months before I had any clue what I was doing. I would have quit but my favorite brother, Joey had made a pact that we both would learn and begin racing together. It has been an awesome experience. My final piece of the puzzle was complete as I conquered Ironman Coeur d'Alene on June 24, 2007 in the time of 15 hours and 33 minutes. It was not pretty, but I got it done.
In March of '09, Melanie McQuaid picked me as one of 20 athletes to race for her new MelRad racing team. We have many awesome sponsors with Specialized Bikes being the team ride. I am so thrilled to be a part. Can't wait to race with the team!
IRONMAN TATTOOI always said upon accomplishing such an enormous task as finishing an Ironman, one of the first things I had planned would be to get with Adam Bethea at TAT 2 U and get an Ironman Tattoo. I said I was never the type for one because it would be to hard to decide on a design that I would like to have forever. After all the pain and suffering of the IM, I decided this symbol would be something I would be proud of. Addison and Jeremy accompanied me to watch. From personal experience, tattoos hurt. It was painful but worth it. I'm sorry for those who do not understand but I like it.

Everyone needs a dependable, dedicated training partner. Todd Doles and myself have been training together consistently for 4 years. We have ran 3 marathons, 3 halves and a sprint race. The key to running is having a great training partner and Todd Doles is this along with being a great friend.
